On every page of the New Testament that speaks of Jesus, the quality that shines the most is His empathy.
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others, to put oneself in someone else’s shoes, and to see the world from their perspective.
Jesus consistently demonstrated empathy through his actions, reactions, and even interactions with others. When He showed up, He showed concern!
When He showed up, the hungry were fed, sick folks were healed, and the broken were mended. When He showed up, lame men leaped, deaf people heard, blinded eyes were opened, and those bound in sinful captivity walked away forgiven and free.
Our High Priest? According to Hebrews 4:15, He is touchable!
Whether it was a sick woman pressing through to touch His tassel, a child being allowed to come unto Him, or even a doubting disciple touching His scars. Jesus was, is, and always will be touchable.
Today, my prayer is to see the world through Jesus’ eyes, to hear what He hears, and for my heart to be moved by the things that move Him. -Rβ
